DESCRIPTION:Birmingham Museum of Art Fieldtrips\n*Free*\n\n\nFall Dates:  September 24th\, October 22nd\, November 19th\n\n\nWe met monthly last school year and really saw the kids grow in their appreciation of art. My kids love it!\nWe’ll meet in the lobby (outside the gift shop) at 11 to begin a Scavenger Hunt for the children.\nDetails:\n-The older kids get in groups of two or three and “hunt” independently. The younger kids can be escorted by parents. If you are not comfortable letting your kid roam the museum unsupervised\, you can accompany them\, no problem. I would suggest independence for responsible 11 year olds and up.\n-I will explain the rules when we meet\, and encourage you to review the behavior guidelines on the BMA website with your kids in advance\n-I will have a small prize for the winning teams!\n\nThe magic of this is the repetition.  Every month we get more and more familiar with our museum\, and the works of art.  We notice more detail\, we begin to remember artist names and mediums and time periods.  We start forming a real relationship with the museum and the art.  This happens over time with hunting and competing with friends!  Our favorite last year was the Emoji theme.  We searched for art that represented each emoji\, or made us feel like the emoji.  It was a fun discussion afterward!
