SUMMARY:Kindergarten Graduation 2025
DESCRIPTION:BHC partners with Essential Church School to offer this special ceremony for the homeschool community. \n\n\n\nThis special day typically includes a slideshow of our graduates\, a personal recognition by parents\, opportunities to share accomplishments through presentations and table displays\, and a special cake reception for family and friends. \n\n\n\nFor your graduate to participate\,\n\n\n\nNEEDED BY APRIL 1 \n\n\n\nOrder any needed caps/gowns/tassels by April 1st (click here for options).  We encourage all graduates to have a cap and tassel.  Our group order helps keep cost low. \n\n\n\n\nORDEr NOW\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNEEDED BY MAY 1 \n\n\n\n\nPay the graduation fee and RSVP below with graduate’s full name for diploma and preferred name for cake.  Space is limited.\n\n\n\nEmail 3 pictures of your graduate to us by May 1st.  Make sure you include at least 1 baby photo.  Email to info@birminghamhomeschoolers.com\n\n\n\nInvite family and friends to join us for this special day!\n\n\n\n\nFAQS\n\n\n\nWhat does the graduation fee cover?  Event space coordination\, personalized cake reception\, and printing costs. \n\n\n\nWhat do graduates usually wear?  Most graduates wear “church” clothes  with a cap\, gown\, and tassel.  We encourage all graduates to have at least a cap/tassel. \n\n\n\nWhat do parents normally say at presentation of diploma?  We have parents come up with their graduate to present the diploma.  Most parents share about the things that make them proud of their graduate\, but often it is a simple handoff and hug.  Please plan to keep your presentation to 3-5 minutes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDO NOT CONTACT the church for information about the graduation.  They are only providing our event space.  They are not handling ANY of the graduation details or group arrangements.  All questions should be directed to BHC at info@birminghamhomeschoolers.com. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE DAY \n\n\n\nPlan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up your displays.  In the past\, parents have used presentation boards to display their graduate’s accomplishments with photos and examples of work from the school year.   Each graduate will receive about 2 feet of table space.  Space will be marked on the tables when you arrive. \n\n\n\nPlease note that helium balloons are not allowed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you enrolled with Essential Church School?  Please visit the school website for kindergarten graduation registration information before completing forms.  Essential members get a discounted rate.

SUMMARY:Back to School Photos
DESCRIPTION:Tired of the same front porch back-to-school photo that you always take at home? Let us take the pressure off on that first day back by booking a back to school mini session with LB Studios! \nLB Studios is excited to offer school age children back to school photos this year! The sessions will be held in Leeds\, AL on Saturday Aug 9th. The backdrop will include school buses. Props provided will be things like an old school desk\, books\, a globe\, a chalkboard with your child’s new grade\, etc. Feel free to bring your child’s back pack and lunch box or bring no props at all. \nThese sessions are just $50 and include two digital files of your choice. Additional files can be purchased for $25 each. Siblings are welcome. The sessions are only 5 minutes long\, so if you have several children it may be best to book more than one session (I would recommend booking an extra slot for 3 or more children). I’m looking forward to starting this new tradition each year and can’t wait to celebrate the new school year!

SUMMARY:Science Fair
DESCRIPTION:Share your knowledge and experiments! We are excited to offer the BHC Science Fair for the 2025-2026 school year for all ages and grade levels. We do require you to register your student’s project by September 22 if possible. The $5 registration fee will help BHC cover the expenses of the venue\, judges\, and prizes – yes\, this event includes some friendly competition! \nScience Fair Information\nAll projects must be a controlled research experiment that follows the scientific method. This is not for models or for research complications. If the project is not an experiment\, your student will receive constructive comments but will not be eligible for judging. Watch videos for more information about the scientific method: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor more information about controlled experiments: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE for lesson on Controlled Experiments. \n\n\n\nProject Ideas\n\nScienceBuddies.org – click on Find A Project Idea\, then browse by topic or grade level\nEducation.com/Science-Fair\nPinterest.com – just make sure it’s a controlled experiment\n\n\nScience Fair Guidelines\n\nMake sure the project is age appropriate. The student should understand what they are doing and be able to discuss it with you. The student should pick a project that they are interested in and do the work themselves as much as possible.\nPlease do not harm any living things for your project.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA student may enter just one project. Students may work together on a project\, but the project will be judged for the age group of the oldest child involved.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProjects will be judged and prizes awarded for winners. All participants will receive a certificate for participating.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll presentations must be in English and the student must be prepared to answer age-specific questions about their project during the judging process. Make sure to write everything in your own words to avoid plagiarism.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou do not have to have your project judged if you do not want to. Just mark that on the registration form.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe presentation must be presented on a tri-fold\, stand alone cardboard display board that can be found at Wal-Mart and other local stores for around $3.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease follow the below example as closely as possible to simplify judging. If the child cannot write\, someone else can write for them or they can draw pictures to demonstrate what they did. Photographs are also good to use.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou can bring materials to show the judge\, but they must fit easily in front of the poster\, they must not need to be plugged in or require other resources\, and they must not make a mess.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn fair day\, please be there at 1:00 to get set up set up and ready for judging. The judges will walk around to each project and discuss with the student.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that the measurements for the poster board are 48″ long and 36″ tall. The diagram below has a mistake- the middle section measures 24″\, not 36″.
